One of the threats that the Mojave Desert is facing, is invasive species. Invasive species are taking up all the resources that the plants need to survive. We call these plants, alien plants. Alien plants are plants planted by human and not native to the area. The alien plants not only affect the plants, but the animals too. For example the desert tortoise tends. The desert tortoise tends to like the native plants better than the alien plants. When the alien plants over populate and take all the resources, over time, the native plants will die out. The desert tortoise and many other animals will either die, have to adapt to the alien plants, or move to somewhere else.
Another threat that the Mojave Desert is facing, is development and vehicles. They are developing in the Los Angeles area. Vehicles run over, and sometimes ruin the animals homes. Plus, development is destroying the environment. They are building on top of the animals houses, and polluting the area. Some of the desert area is also being used for landfills. They are dumping trash and harming the environment. It's a problem that needs to be helped.
